Most paved driveways can easily be impregnated or sealed to effectively reduce future staining and unsightly green growths, as well as to prevent future frost and freeze-thaw damage to the porous natural stone or concrete blocks for example.

CR Services normally recommend the application of clear, penetrating, aqueous (water dispersed & solvent free, so more environmentally friendly) hydrophobic impregnations to provide this long term protection. These are an excellent barrier against water penetration and subsequent frost damage, and this will also greatly reduce any future staining and dirt pick up, plus very importantly, without changing the natural appearance, colour and patina of your paving.

Important Note: We do not ever recommend or use the cheap (and today not so cheap), silicone-based ‘waterproofers’ from Builders Merchants, as these are almost a total waste of our time and your money, as they last long enough for an impressive test a few days after application, but then they need frequent re-application, very frequent (not so clear at saying what they will do on the tin!). They do not even last for a year in most real-world situations, especially on horizontal surfaces like paved driveways, which is because they do not penetrate very deeply, do not bond into the pores, and they are broken down and degraded quickly by the UK light even in our limited amounts of Manchester sun.

When colour enhancement, with a matt sheen or even a gloss finish is preferred, then this can also be provided by CR Services, using a clear or coloured acrylic or polyurethane resin based sealer to protect and enhance the surface.
